अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासंघ, अमेरिकाको केन्द्रीय कार्य समितिको बैठक नोभेम्बर २८, २०२५ मा अनलाइन माध्यममार्फत सम्पन्न भयो। अध्यक्ष रामप्रसाद खनालको अध्यक्षता र महासचिव टंक दाहालको सञ्चालनमा बसेको बैठकले विश्वभर रहेका नेपाली पत्रकारिता अभियन्ताहरूलाई समेट्ने उद्देश्यसहित १९ बुँदे महत्वपूर्ण निर्णयहरू पारित गरेको छ। बैठकले महासंघका एजेण्डाहरूमा विस्तृत छलफल गर्दै संस्थागत विकास, विश्वसनीय पत्रकारिता, शाखा विस्तार, पत्रकार सुरक्षा, क्षमता अभिवृद्धि, आर्थिक व्यवस्थापन तथा अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय समन्वयजस्ता विषयमा व्यापक योजना अघि सारेको छ।
बैठकले महासंघको सदस्यता संरचना पुनर्संयोजन गर्दै नेपालबाहिरका सबै देशहरूका पत्रकारका लागि आजीवन सदस्यता शुल्क १०० अमेरिकी डलर तथा नेपालमा बसोबास गर्ने पत्रकारहरूका लागि ५,००० रुपैयाँ तोक्ने निर्णय गरेको छ। यससँगै BBC London देखि अमेरिकासम्म, नेपालभित्र र बाहिर सञ्चालित विभिन्न मूलधारका मिडियामा पत्रकारितामाथि उठिरहेका प्रश्न, जनगुनासा र मनोवैज्ञानिक दवाबलाई गम्भीरतापूर्वक लिँदै सबै पत्रकारलाई मूल्य, मान्यता, आचारसंहिता र विश्वसनीयताप्रति दृढ रहन अपिल गरिएको छ। महासचिव टंक दाहालसहित केही पत्रकारमाथि पत्रकारिता पेशामै आधारित आधारहीन आरोप तथा मनोवैज्ञानिक दवाब सिर्जना भएको घटनाप्रति बैठकले कडा शब्दमा निन्दा व्यक्त गरेको छ।
विश्वका अमेरिका, बेलायत, चीन, युरोप, अस्ट्रेलिया, क्यानडा, नेपाल तथा पछिल्ला समयका संवेदनशील भूभाग इजरायल, गाजा, अफगानिस्तान, पाकिस्तान र सिरियासहितका क्षेत्रमा पत्रकारमाथि भइरहेका आक्रमण, हत्या, धम्की तथा दुर्व्यवहारप्रति महासंघले गम्भीर चिन्ता व्यक्त गर्दै सम्बद्ध राष्ट्रहरूलाई पत्रकार सुरक्षाको ग्यारेन्टी गर्न औपचारिक अपिल गर्ने निर्णय गरेको छ। यसअघि गठन भएका नेपाल, जापान, पोल्याण्ड र साउदी अरेबियाका शाखाहरूलाई औपचारिक मान्यता प्रदान गर्ने निर्णय पनि बैठकले अनुमोदन गरेको छ।
शाखा विस्तार तथा संस्थागत सुदृढीकरणका लागि महासंघभित्र कार्यरत सल्लाहकार, पदाधिकारी तथा बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टरहरूलाई अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय शाखा विस्तारमा सक्रिय भूमिका निर्वाह गर्न अनुरोध गर्ने निर्णय पनि पारित भएको छ। नेपालबाहिर तथा अमेरिकाभर रहेका पत्रकारहरूको नामावली संकलनका लागि उपाध्यक्ष सतीश चापागाईं, बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर कृष्णराज खनाल र बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर दिनेश कार्की रहेको तीन सदस्यीय उपसमिति गठन गरिएको छ। महासंघको दीर्घकालीन सञ्चालनका लागि आवश्यक आर्थिक स्रोत व्यवस्थापनबारे सम्भाव्यता अध्ययन गर्न महासचिव टंक दाहाल, कोषाध्यक्ष अर्जुन दाहाल र सचिव अनिल अधिकारी रहने गरी अर्को तीन सदस्यीय समितिको गठन गरिएको छ।
नेपाल शाखाको आयोजनामा एक विशेष कार्यक्रम तथा कार्यशाला निकट भविष्यमा सञ्चालन गर्ने निर्णय गर्दै तयारी तथा कार्यान्वयनका लागि नेपाल शाखामै रहेका उपाध्यक्ष तथा बोर्ड सदस्यहरूलाई जिम्मेवारी तोकिएको छ। कार्यपत्र निर्माणको दायित्व सल्लाहकार पुरुषोत्तम दाहाल र डा. बालकृष्ण चापागाईंलाई प्रदान गरिएको छ। नेपाल शाखालाई अझ सक्रिय बनाउँदै संस्थागत विकासमा उपाध्यक्ष जिवराम भण्डारी, टंक पन्त, अखण्ड भण्डारी र केदार कोईरालाले विशेष भूमिका निर्वाह गर्ने निर्णय पनि पारित भएको छ। क्यानडामा शाखा स्थापना गर्न बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर अनिल थापा र अस्ट्रेलियामा शाखा विस्तार गर्न बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर सुरेन्द्र सापकोटालाई जिम्मेवारी दिइएको छ।
विश्वका विभिन्न देशहरूमा सञ्चालित पत्रकारिता सम्बन्धी संस्थाहरूलाई महासंघसँग संस्थागत रूपमा आबद्ध गर्ने सम्भाव्यता अध्ययन गर्ने जिम्मा बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर युवराज विद्रोहीलाई दिइएको छ। महासंघको वेबसाइट निर्माण र नियमित अपडेटमा सहयोग गर्दै आएका ई. कुमार श्रेष्ठप्रति बैठकले धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गर्दै भविष्यमा पनि निरन्तर साथ रहने विश्वास व्यक्त गरेको छ। महिला पत्रकारहरूको सहभागिता, प्रभावकारिता र नेतृत्व क्षमताको अध्ययन गरी प्रतिवेदन पेस गर्ने जिम्मेवारी बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर तथा नेपाल शाखा अध्यक्ष कृष्णा पौडेल, नवराज कुँवर र कमला विश्वकर्मालाई प्रदान गरिएको छ।
अमेरिकास्तरीय पत्रकार भेलाको सम्भाव्यता, समय, स्थान र विस्तृत योजना तयार पार्ने कार्य सल्लाहकार विजय घिमिरे, बोर्ड अफ डिरेक्टर कृष्णराज खनाल, सुमन दाहाल र विश्वराज थापालाई दिइएको छ। बैठकले विभिन्न शाखाहरूले केन्द्रको पूर्वस्वीकृति प्राप्त गरी आफ्नै कोष स्थापना गर्न सक्ने व्यवस्था अनुमोदन गरेको छ भने पत्रकार क्षमतावृद्धिका लागि संसारभरका पत्रकारिताका थिंक ट्यांक र संस्थाहरूसँग समन्वय तथा पत्राचार गर्ने निर्णय पनि गरेको छ। साथै वाशिंगटन डी.सी.मा अमेरिका भर रहेका नेपाली पत्रकारहरूको सहभागितामा विशेष कार्यक्रम आयोजना गर्ने कार्यको संयोजन सल्लाहकार पुरु घिमिरेले गर्नेछन्। महासंघले प्रत्येक महिना एकपटक बैठक बस्ने र पारित भएका सबै निर्णयहरूको कार्यान्वयनमा अध्यक्ष र महासचिवले आवश्यक परामर्श तथा समन्वय गर्ने निर्णय गरेको छ। बैठकमा पारित सबै निर्णयहरू अन्त्यमा अध्यक्ष रामप्रसाद खनाल र महासचिव टंक दाहालले संयुक्त रूपमा प्रमाणिकरण गरी हस्ताक्षर गरेका छन्।

The Central Executive Committee meeting of the Federation of International Journalist, America, was held on November 28, 2025, through an online platform. Chaired by President Ram Prasad Khanal and conducted by General Secretary Tanka Dahal, the meeting passed 17 major decisions aimed at uniting Nepali journalism advocates across the globe. The meeting held extensive discussions on the federation’s agenda and introduced comprehensive plans on institutional development, journalistic credibility, branch expansion, journalist safety, capacity enhancement, financial management, and international coordination.
The meeting restructured the federation’s membership system, deciding that the lifetime membership fee for journalists living outside Nepal will be 100 US dollars, while journalists residing in Nepal will pay 5,000 rupees. It also took seriously the growing concerns, public complaints, and psychological pressure against mainstream media—from BBC London to media outlets across the United States and Nepal—calling on journalists everywhere to remain committed to professional ethics, values, credibility, and accepted standards. The meeting strongly condemned the baseless allegations and psychological harassment directed at several journalists, including General Secretary Tanka Dahal, merely for practicing journalism.
Expressing deep concern over the rising incidents of attacks, killings, threats, and mistreatment of journalists in the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Europe, Australia, Canada, Nepal, and increasingly in sensitive regions such as Israel, Gaza, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria, the federation resolved to formally urge the respective governments to guarantee the safety of journalists. The meeting also ratified the formal recognition of branches already established in Nepal, Japan, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.
To further promote branch expansion and institutional strengthening, the federation decided to request advisors, office bearers, and board directors to take active roles in international branch development. A three-member subcommittee—comprising Vice President Satish Chapagain, Board Director Krishna Raj Khanal, and Board Director Dinesh Karki—was formed to compile a roster of journalists working across the United States and abroad. Another three-member committee—General Secretary Tanka Dahal, Treasurer Arjun Dahal, and Secretary Anil Adhikari—was formed to conduct a feasibility study on sustainable financial resource management.
The federation also decided to organize a special program and workshop in Nepal in the near future, assigning responsibility for preparation and execution to the Nepal branch’s vice presidents and board members. Preparation of the working paper was assigned to Advisor Purushottam Dahal and Dr. Balkrishna Chapagain. To further strengthen the Nepal branch, Vice Presidents Jivaraj Bhandari, Tank Pant, Akhand Bhandari, and Kedar Koirala were given key responsibilities. Board Director Anil Thapa was assigned to establish a branch in Canada, and Board Director Surendra Sapkota was tasked with expanding the branch in Australia.
Board Director Yuvraj Bidrohi was entrusted with studying the possibility of affiliating journalism-related organizations operating in various countries with the federation at an institutional level. The meeting expressed gratitude to E. Kumar Shrestha for building and continuously updating the federation’s website and expressed confidence in his continued support. The responsibility for studying and presenting a report on the participation, effectiveness, and leadership capacity of women journalists was assigned to Board Director and Nepal Branch President Krishna Paudel, along with Nawaraj Kunwar and Kamala Bishwakarma.
A detailed plan for a national-level convention of Nepali journalists in America—including its feasibility, timing, venue, and structure—was assigned to Advisor Vijay Ghimire, Board Director Krishna Raj Khanal, Suman Dahal, and Bishwaraj Thapa. The meeting also approved the provision allowing individual branches to establish their own funds with prior approval from the central committee. Furthermore, the federation resolved to coordinate and communicate with journalism think tanks and institutions around the world for capacity-building programs and mutual exchange. A special program involving Nepali journalists across America will also be held in Washington, D.C., coordinated by Advisor Puru Ghimire. The federation will hold its meetings once every month, and the President and General Secretary will carry out necessary consultation and coordination to implement all adopted decisions.
All decisions passed by the meeting were jointly certified and signed by President Ram Prasad Khanal and General Secretary Tanka Dahal.

Decisions of the Central Executive Committee Meeting
The Central Executive Committee meeting of the Federation of international Journalist America – FIJA was held under the chairmanship of President Mr. Ram Prasad Khanal and conducted by General Secretary Tank Dahal through an online platform. After discussions on various agenda items, the meeting passed the following important decisions:
Decision No. 1:
To adopt a single type of membership — lifetime membership — setting the fee at USD 100 per person for all countries outside Nepal, and NPR 5,000 for Nepal.
Decision No. 2:
Taking seriously the public concerns and questions raised about the credibility of journalism in mainstream and other media—from BBC London to American media, including media operating inside and outside Nepal—the meeting draws the attention of all media workers to uphold journalistic values, integrity, dignity, and credibility. The meeting condemns the rumors and mental harassment faced by journalists including General Secretary Tank Dahal solely for practicing journalism.
Decision No. 3:
Expressing deep concern over attacks, killings, threats, and abuses against media and journalists in various regions of the world—including the U.S., U.K., China, European countries, Australia, Canada, Nepal, and recently in sensitive regions such as Israel, Gaza, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria—the federation will appeal to the respective nations to ensure journalist safety.
Decision No. 4:
To formally approve the federation’s branches already established in Nepal, Japan, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.
Decision No. 5:
To request advisors, officials, and the Board of Directors working under the federation to take proactive and effective roles in international branch expansion.

Decision No. 9:
To strengthen the Nepal branch further, Vice Presidents Jivaram Bhandari, Tank Pant, Akhand Bhandari, and Kedar Koirala will play special roles in organizational development and expansion.

To assign Board Director and Nepal Branch President Krishna Paudel, Board Director Nawaraj Kunwar, and Board Director Kamala Bishwokarma to study ways to increase participation, effectiveness, and activeness of women journalists, and to submit a report.
Decision No. 14:
To request Advisor Vijay Ghimire and Board Directors Krishna Raj Khanal, Suman Dahal, and Bishwaraj Thapa to prepare a detailed plan for studying the feasibility of a U.S.-level journalists’ gathering. A report specifying when, where, and how the program will be organized will be presented at the next meeting.
Decision No. 15:
Branches established in different countries may set up their own funds with prior permission and approval from the central committee. The use and operation of such funds must follow branch rules and central approval guidelines.
Decision No. 16:
To coordinate and correspond with journalism organizations in the U.S. to enhance the capacity of Nepali journalists, and to connect this coordination to international journalism think tanks for experience-sharing and possible joint programs.
Decision No. 17 :
To organize a program in Washington, D.C. with participation of Nepali journalists and relevant organizations in the U.S., coordinated by Advisor Puru Ghimire.
Decision No. 18 :
To hold a meeting once every month.

To authorize the President and General Secretary to consult and coordinate with all concerned to implement the above decisions.
