अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) को प्रेस विज्ञप्ति :

१- नेपालको संविधानको प्रस्तावनामा नै पूर्ण प्रेस स्वतन्त्रता अनि प्रेस स्वतन्त्रता र सञ्चारको हकको बारेमा स्पस्ट ब्यबस्था गरिएको छ। लेख, रचना, समाचार, विचार प्रकाशनमा प्रतिबन्ध लगाउने कल्पना छँदै छैन र प्रेसलाई अंकुश लगाउने त्यस्तो कुनै व्यवस्था छैन। हालै नेपालमा समाचार लेखेकै कारण सुजित केसी र दिल भूषण पाठकलाई पक्राउ गर्ने समाचारहरू आएका छन्। मिडियाहरूलाई प्रकाशित सामग्री हटाउन आदेश दिइएको छ। यी घटनाहरू प्रति अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) को गम्भीर ध्यानाकर्षण भएको छ र महासङ्घ यस्ता कदम प्रति असहमति प्रकट गर्दछ। प्रेस सँग सम्बन्धित कुरा हेर्ने निकाय प्रेस काउन्सिल हो। नियम कानुन अनुसार कोही पीडित भए सबैभन्दा पहिला जानु पर्ने र उपचार खोज्नु पर्ने प्रेस काउन्सिल मै हो त्यस पछि बल्ल अरू निकाय जाने संविधान र कानुन मै व्यवस्था गरिएको छ तर राज्य शक्ति दुरुपयोग गर्ने प्रहरी, हचुवाको भरमा आदेश दिने न्यायाधीश र अदालतको यस तर्फ गम्भीर ध्यानाकर्षण होस ।

२- केही समय अघि माओवादी केन्द्रका अध्यक्ष पुष्पकमल दाहाल उर्फ प्रचण्ड लाई प्रश्न सोधेकै कारण माओवादीहरूले सुरज खड्कालाई निर्घात रूपमा कुटेको समाचार आएको थियो। त्यसै गरी नेपालमा दिन प्रतिदिन राजनीतिक पार्टी, नेता देखि विभिन्न पक्ष हुँदै प्रहरी सम्मले पनि पत्रकारहरू माथि गर्दै आएको दुर्व्यवहार प्रति अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) खेद व्यक्त गर्दछ।

३- अमेरिकाको लस एञ्जेल्समा समाचार सङ्कलन , लाइभ प्रसारण गरिरहेका पत्रकार Lauren Tomasi लाई रबरको गोली प्रहार भएको र केही अमेरिकन तथा बेलायती पत्रकारहरू माथि पनि दुर्व्यवहार भएका घटना पनि सार्वजनिक भएका छन्। अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) ती घटनाहरू प्रति पनि खेद व्यक्त गर्दछ।

४- यसै गरी रुस र युक्रेनमा युद्धका क्रममा होस वा इजरायल, हमास वा अन्य देशहरूमा पनि पनि कयौँ पत्रकार हरू प्रति राज्य वा विभिन्न पक्ष बाट भइरहेका दुर्व्यवहारहरू प्रति अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) खेद व्यक्त गर्दछ।

५- अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) पत्रकार माथि भएका यी र यस्ता सबै घटनाहरू प्रति खेद प्रकट गर्दछ। प्रेस स्वतन्त्रता, प्रेसको हक हित सुनिश्चित गर्न सम्बन्धित सबै पक्षसँग आव्हान गर्दछ।

६- पत्रकार र पत्रकारिता जगत पनि स्वतन्त्र र निष्पक्ष बन्न, पत्रकारिताको मर्म, धर्म र कर्तव्य प्रति सचेत हुन, पाठक, श्रोता र दर्शक प्रति पनि जबाफदेही हुन अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पत्रकार महासङ्घ अमेरिका (Federation of International Journalist, America) सबै पत्रकार, मिडिया र सम्बन्धित पक्षहरू सँग आह्वान गर्दछ।

Press Release from the Federation of International Journalists, America:

1. The preamble of Nepal’s Constitution clearly guarantees full press freedom and the right to press and communication. There is no provision or intent to impose restrictions on publishing articles, essays, news, or opinions, nor is there any mechanism to curb the press under Nepal’s constitution. Recently, reports have emerged of the arrests (or intent of arrest) of Sujit KC and Dil Bhusan Pathak in Nepal for writing news articles. Orders have been issued to media outlets to remove published content. The Federation of International Journalists, America, expresses serious concern over these incidents and strongly opposes such actions. The Press Council is the designated body to address press-related issues. According to the law, anyone aggrieved must first approach the Press Council for redress before escalating to other entities, as stipulated in the Constitution and legal framework. We urge the police, who misuse state power, judges issuing arbitrary orders, and the judiciary to take these matters seriously.

2. Some time ago, it was reported that Suraj Khadka was brutally beaten by Maoists simply for questioning Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, alias Prachanda. Similarly, the Federation of International Journalists, America, expresses regret over the ongoing mistreatment of journalists in Nepal by political parties, leaders, various groups, and even the police.

3. In Los Angeles, USA, journalist Lauren Tomasi was shot with rubber bullets while collecting news and broadcasting live. Incidents of mistreatment of some American and British journalists have also come to light. The Federation of International Journalists, America, expresses regret over these incidents.

4. Likewise, the Federation of International Journalists, America, condemns the mistreatment of numerous journalists by states or various groups during conflicts in Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Hamas, and other countries.

5. The Federation of International Journalists, America, expresses regret over all such incidents targeting journalists and calls on all relevant parties to ensure press freedom and the rights and interests of the press.

6. The Federation of International Journalists, America, urges all journalists, media, and related stakeholders to remain independent and impartial, to uphold the spirit, ethics, and duties of journalism, and to be accountable to readers, listeners, and viewers.
