Nepali Teej Dance Competition

Competition Information

The Teej Dance Competition is a program hosted by International Artists Forum, DC Nepali Samaj, Society of American Nepalese Nurses (SANN), America Nepal Chaupari, International Nepali Literacy Society (INLS ) Washington DC Chapter, America Nepal Television ( ANTV ) to preserve and preservation of our culture. This competition will be held on Monday, September 02, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The event will be held at Mason District Park, 6621 Columbia pike, Annandale   Virginia 22003  A winner will be selected by a panel of judges. Prizes include certificate with cash for four categories are as follow:- 1st - $400, 2nd - $300, and 3rd - $200, and consolation - $100. 

Groups are judged on the following criteria:
• Cultural Expression: How well does the performance connect to the culture that it is created to represent? (movement, music, costumes, etc.)
• Choreography: How well does the individual/group execute the choreography? (skill level, artistic merit, etc.)
• Entertainment Value: How enjoyable was the performance?
• Audience Appeal: How did the audience receive the performance?

No audition is necessary; however, groups must register in order to participate. If two groups register with the same song, then the group who registered first will be allowed to use that song and the other group will have to select an alternative song. There will not be rehearsal of the entire show.

Rules for Participation
Entrance fee per group $15.00.
Maximum time limit for each entry is 10 minutes.
Music needs to be in an electronic form (mp3, mp4, etc.) and must be sent to the ANTV via email one week prior to the show. www.americanepaltv@gmail.com
Group should be occupied with minimum 3 and maximum 10 contestants.
Contestants are responsible for responding to emails or phone contacts from the Nepali Teej Dance Competition Team.
