 जुडो करातें देखी कुटपिट सम्म, पेस्तोल देखी खुकुरी हुँदै लाठी सम्म प्रयोग गर्दैछन माओवादीहरु ! माओवादीको तालिम यस्तोको लागि रहेछ ल हेर्नुस्, यो पनि शन्तिपूर्ण होकी ??

आमहडतालको चौथो दिन बुधबार २१ स्थानमा स्थानीयले बन्दको प्रतिकार गरेका छन्। त्यसैगरी ४० ठाउँमा तोडफोड भएको छ भने कुटपिट र अपहरणका ९ घटना भएका छन्। मकवानपुरमा एक जनाको मृत्यु भएको छ। बुटवल नगरपालिकाको कार्यालयमा बन्दकर्ताले साँझ ५ बजे झण्डा राख्ने क्रममा झडप भएको छ। प्रहरीले टियर ग्यास प्रहार गरी स्थितिलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिएको छ। प्रदर्शनकारीले साथै साँझ साढे ५ बजे बुटवल नगरपालिका–६ स्थित प्रहरी विटमा आगजनी गरेकोमा प्रहरीले नियन्त्रणमा लिएको छ भने सोही नगरपालिका–७ अमरपथस्थित प्रहरी बिटमा ढुङ्गा प्रहार गरी...
झ्यालको शिशा फुटाएका प्रहरी प्रधान कार्यालयले जनाएको छ। यसैगरी झापाको मेची नगरपालिका–२ तिनाउपुलमा भे.१ प १२९२ नम्बरको मोटरसाइकलमा दिउसो पौने ४ बजे बन्दकर्ताले आगजनी गरेकोमा प्रहरीले तत्काल नियन्त्रण गरेको छ। मोटरसाइकलमा सामान्य क्षति भने भएको छ। यसैगरी कास्कीको पोखरा उपमहानगरपालिका पुरनधारामा दिउसो पौने ४ बजे नम्बर खुल्न नसकेको एक मोटरसाइकल बन्दकर्ताले तोडफोड गरेका छन्। यसैगरी चितवनको भरतपुर नगरपालिकास्थित निर्जन उत्थान ब्याङ्कबाट प्रदर्शनकारीहरुले दिउसो साढे ३ बजे ल्यापटप १ थान, कम्प्युटर ४ थान र फोन १ थान लुटेका छन्।

धनकुटाको अस्पतालचोकमा युथफोर्स र वाइसियल कार्यकर्ताबीच दिउसो साढे २ बजे झडप हुँदा प्रहरीले स्थितिलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिएको छ। दुबै पक्षका कार्यकर्ताहरु नारा जुलुस गर्दै जाँदा उक्त स्थानमा पुगी झडपको रुप लिन आँटेपछि तत्काल प्रहरी पुगेर बीचमा बसी दुबै पक्षलाई आ–आफ्नो साइडमा राखी थप क्षति हुनबाट रोकेको प्रहरीले जानकारी दिएको छ। सो क्रममा २ जना वाइसियल कार्यकर्ता ढुङ्गा लागी घाइते भएका छन्। प्रहरीले जनाएअनुसार सर्लाहीको रानीगन्ज–८ स्थित सङ्गीता बोर्डिङ स्कूलमा बन्दकर्ता प्रवेश गरी दराज, शिशा, झ्याललगायतका सामान तोडफोड गरेका छन्। दिउसो २ बजे स्कूल बन्द नगराएको भनी तोडफोड गर्दा करीव ४० हजार रुपैयाँ बराबरको धनमाल क्षति भएको छ। सिरहाको मिर्चेया–३ महेन्द्र राजमार्गमा बिहान साढे ११ बजे प्रदर्शनकारीले श्यामकुमार यादवको स.२ प १२०९ नम्वरको मोटरसाइकलमा आगजनी गरेर पूर्णरुपमा क्षति पुर्‍याएका छन्। यसैगरी धादिङको बैरेनी–८ स्थित बजारमा बागेश्वरी दूध डेरीका कर्मचारीले बन्दविरुद्ध बिहान साढे ९ बजे सडकमा दूध पोखेर विरोध गरे। यसैगरी नवलपरासीको त्रिवेणी सुस्ता–६ रानीनगरमा मधेशी जनअधिकार फोरम लोकतान्त्रिक, तराई मधेश लोकतान्त्रिक पार्टीका कार्यकर्ता र स्थानीयबासीले बिहान ९ बजे बजार खुलाउँदै हिँडे। यसैगरी झापाको मेची नगरपालिका–१ स्थित उद्योग वाणिज्य सङ्घका पदाधिकारी र स्थानीयले बिहान पौने ९ बजे बन्दको विरोधमा जुलुस निकाली बजार खुलाएका छन्।

यसैगरी कन्चनपुरको ट्राफिक चोकमा बन्दकर्ताले बिहान पौने ८ बजे से.१ प ३२७२ नम्बरको मोटरसाइकल तोडफोड गरी क्षति पुर्‍याएका छन्। यसैगरी चितवन भरतपुर नगरपालिका क्षेत्रपुरमा ना ७ प ४९४८ नम्बरको मोटरसाइकलमा बन्दकर्ताले वैशाख २१ गते साँझ साढे ५ बजे आगजनी गरेका छन्। मोटरसाइकलमा सामान्य क्षति भएको छ। सो क्रममा विवाद हुँदा बन्दकर्तातर्फका २० वर्षीय सीताराम खनाल सामान्य घाइते भएका छन्। घाइतेलाई उपचारका लागि सरकारी अस्पताल चितवन लगिएको छ। यसैगरी झापाको मेची नगरपालिका–१३ स्थित महेन्द्र राजमार्गमा प्रदर्शनकारीले वा १७ प ९९९५ नम्बरको मोटरसाइकलमा आगजनी गरेका छन्। वैशाख २१ गते साँझ साढे ४ बजे चालक २७ वर्षीय भुपेन्द्र राईलाई कुटपिट गरेका थिए। उनीहरुले सोही समयमा डब्ल्यु. डी. ७४०३४९ नम्बरको इन्डियन मोटरसाइकलको हेडलाइट फुटाइदिएका थिए।

बन्द अवज्ञा गर्न उक्साएको भन्दै एकीकृत माओवादीले एमाले र कङ्ग्रेसका झापाका चार युवा कार्यकर्तालाई मार्ने धम्की दिएको छ। काकरभिट्टामा भएको अवज्ञा जुलुसको विरोधमा माओवादीले आयोजना गरेको सभामा बोल्दै जिल्ला सदस्य माधव अर्यालले यसरी मार्ने धम्की दिएका हुन्। एमाले भातृ सङ्गठन युवा सङ्घ नेपालका केन्द्रीय सदस्य राजु कार्की, जिल्ला कोषाध्यक्ष रोशन अग्रवाल, मेचीनगर अध्यक्ष राजेश राउत र तरुण दल मेचीनगर अध्यक्ष केवलराम राईलाई मार्ने धम्की आएको हो। माओवादी नेता अर्यालले आफूले पार्टी निर्णयअनुसार नै त्यस्तो धम्की दिएको बताएका छन्।

माओवादी नेता नारायणकाजी श्रेष्ठले आजको तीन दल बैठकमा पनि निष्कर्ष ननिस्केको बताएका छन्। उनले माओवादीले वार्ता र आन्दोलन जारी नै राख्ने नीति लिएको पनि सञ्चारकर्मीलाई जानकारी दिए। यसैगरी कङ्ग्रेस नेता तथा पार्टी प्रवक्ता अर्जुननरसिंह केसीले सहमति र सहकार्यको विकल्प नभएको बताउँदै समस्याको प्याकेजमा समाधान खोजिनुपर्नेमा जोड दिए। उनले आन्दोलन फिर्ता लिएर वार्तामा आउन माओवादीलाई आग्रह गर्दै वार्ताको विकल्प नै नभएको दाबी पनि गरे। सञ्चारकर्मीको पहलमा भएको तीन दलीय बैठकपछि उनले भने- हामी सहमतिबाटै निकास निकाल्नुपर्छ भन्नेमा तीनै दल सहमत छौं। यसैगरी एमाले नेता प्रदीप ज्ञवालीले तीनै पार्टीको तर्फबाट प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गर्न चाहन्छु भन्दै अहिले जनताले भोग्नुपरेका समस्या छिटै अन्त्य गर्नुपर्छ भन्नेमा सबै सहमत भएको बताए। अनि उनले थपे- हामी मुलुकलाई दुर्घटनामा पर्न दिने छैनौं। हामीले सगरमाथाभन्दा ठूला शिखरहरु पनि पार गरिसक्यौं भन्दै उनले अबका शिखरहरु त नागार्जुनभन्दा पनि होचा भएका बताए। र, समस्या समाधान खासै ठूलो विषय नभएको उनको भनाइ थियो। उनले आजै साँझदेखि दुईपक्षीय, त्रिपक्षीय बैठकहरु हुने र तिनले सकारात्मक निष्कर्ष निकाल्ने आशा पनि व्यक्त गरे।
वाइसीएलद्वारा सिनामंगलमा स्थानीयबासीमाथि कुटपीट कुटाइबाट २ जना गम्भीर घाइते:
सडक पेटीमा बसेर माओवादीको विरोध गरिरहेका २ स्थानीयलाई वाइसीएलले 'माओवादीको विरोध गर्ने' भन्दै बाँसको भाटाले टाउकोमा प्रहार गरेका थिए। वाइसीएलको प्रहारबाट एकजनाको टाउको फुटेको छ। अर्का एक सामान्य घाइते भएका छन्। दुवैलाई उपचारका लागि काठमाडौं मेडिकल कलेज लगिएको डीएसपी गणेश ऐरले बताए।

अनिश्चितकालीन हड्तालले ९६ घण्टा पूरा गर्न लाग्दा पनि मुख्य तीन दलहरु अझै सहमति गर्नुपर्ने सहमति गरेका छौँ भन्दैछन्। जनजीवन भने असहमतिको बन्दी भएर झन्- झन् कष्टकर बन्दैछ।
बन्दका कारण चक्रपथमा पैदल हिँड्नेहरुको लर्को नै देखिन्थ्यो। 'आमा बिरामी भएकोले अस्पताल जान लागेको चाबहिलमा', स्वयम्भूमा भेटिएका एक किशोरीले भनिन्। उनी मानवअधिकारवादी, प्रेस वा अस्पतालका गाडीले आफूहरुलाई 'उद्धार' गरी त्यहाँसम्म लिफ्ट दिन्छन् कि भन्ने आशामा थिए। तर आन्दोलनकारीहरुले त्यस्ता गाडीमा कडा निगरानी गरिरहेका थिए।

आन्दोलनकारीहरु सुतेको, खेलिरहेको दृश्य खिच्दा अरु आन्दोलनकारीहरु विशेष सतर्क हुन्थे। प्रहरी पनि 'हाम्रो बसिरहेको, आराम गरिरहेको फोटो मात्र खिच्ने' भन्दै फोटो पत्रकारहरुसित गुनासो गर्दै गरेको देखिन्थ्यो।


काठमाडौँका विभिन्न १८ स्थानमा रहेका चोकहरु, जसलाई आन्दोलनकारीहरु 'मोर्चा' भन्ने गर्छन्, मा आन्दोलनकारीहरु माइक राखेर गीत, कविता, प्यारोडी मुक्तक र नाचगान गरी बसिरहेका छन्। बुधबार बालाजु, गोंगबु, महाराजगञ्ज, गौशाला, चाबहिल, नयाँ बानेश्वर संविधान सभा भवन अगाडि लगायतका ठाउँहरु यस्तो सभा भएको थियो। यसबाहेक आन्दोलनका क्रममा हरेक दिन एक स्थानमा 'केन्द्रित सभा' पनि हुने गरेको छ।

बुधबार यस्तो सभा सतुंगलमा भएको थियो। काठमाडौँ प्रवेश गर्ने मुख्य नाका थानकोटबाट कलंकी जाने बाटोबीचमा रहेको सतुंगलको एक कुनामा मञ्च बनाइएको थियो भने कलंकी जाने बाटो र थानकोट जाने बाटोतिर आन्दोलनकारी बसेका थिए। यही स्थानमा मंगलबार माओवादीको प्रतिकार भएको थियो र यस क्षेत्रलाई माओवादी निषेधित क्षेत्र घोषणा भएको समाचार सञ्चारमाध्यममा आएका थिए। शायद यसैले केन्द्रीय नेताहरु नारायणकाजी श्रेष्ठ, हिसिला यमि र जनार्दन शर्मा लगायतले मुख्य सभा गर्ने ठाउँ यही रोजेका थिए।

सतुंगलमा सभा हुँदै गर्दा पछाडि बसेका आन्दोलनकारीहरुले मञ्च नदेख्‍ने र वक्ताको भाषण नसुनिने भएपछि केही सयको संख्यामा फर्कँदै थिए। तर पछि उनीहरुलाई बीच सडक मै बस्न लगाइएको थियो।


मंगलबार बसेको एकीकृत माओवादी केन्द्रीय पदाधिकारीहरुको बैठकले आन्दोलनमा उपत्यकाका नेवार समुदायलाई लक्षित गरी विशेष कार्यक्रम ल्याउने निर्णय गरेको थियो। यसै अनुरुप आज सडकमा आन्दोलनकारीहरुले हँसिया हथौडा अंकित झण्डा मात्र हैन, कांग्रेस, एमाले र माओवादीका भ्रातृ संगठनहरु आवद्ध रहेको संयुक्त संघर्ष समितले केही महिनाअघि घोषणा गरेको नेवार स्वायत्त राज्यको झण्डासमेत बोकेको देखिएको थियो।

सतुंगलमा सभा हुँदै गर्दा माइकमा प्रख्यात नेवारी लोकगीत 'राजमति कुमति' को धुनसमेत बजाएको सुनिन्थ्यो। वक्ताहरुले पनि स्थानीय बासिन्दाहरुको समर्थन पाउन खोज्ने हिसाबले सम्बोधन गरिरहेका थिए। (फोटोहरुः भोजराज भाट)

AN Emergency help for Mrs. Shanti Sherchan

Dear all Nepali friends
On an ill-fated evening of March 28th, 2010, Mrs. Shanti Sherchan was hit by a speeding car while she was crossing the Roswell Road in Atlanta, Georgia. She was immediately rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. She had to be admitted to Incentive Care Unit from which she has not been released. She came from Nepal to visit her family in Georgia. According to her son, Nagesh Sherchan, the condition is highly critical and the current prognosis estimates the recovery may take a year or longer. She is currently in life support. Nepali Association of Georgia (NAG) along with friends and families and Association of Nepalis in Americas (ANA) would like to appeal for your help on this time of crisis. We are in urgent need for monetary assistance for medical assistance and other logistical requirements. Let us demonstrate our solidarity one more time to help the family.

GECLSA Organizes an Educational Interaction Program in USA  

      Global Educational Literary Support Association organized an interaction program on 21^st Century Education and Nepal to explore innovative educational opportunities and possibilities at its central office in Maryland, USA on 2^nd May, 2010. Mr JB Salganik, a long time employee for CBS news and Channel Two Television, and an educator was the moderator of the panel discussion. The presenters, Mr. HB Bhandari Prabhat, professor at Baltimore Community College and GECLSA’s president,  William N. Hug - Coordinator of Recruitment, Admissions, and International Student Services, Baltimore City Community College ,Shyam D. Karki Pharm.D, FCCP, Interim Director, Pharmacy Department, Pradip Poudel, Nepal Student Union President, Bhim Kattel, Ph.D., CP, Professor Morgan State University, Oswego Hospital, Oswego, NY, shared out their researched ideas on current Nepalese education  to the local American and Nepali community leaders and professionals.       Mr Bhandari welcomed professionals and guest speakers and highlighted GECLSA’s mission as to provide financial and professional help to the institutions working in the upliftment of education in remote and isolated regions of the world. Additionally, he stressed the need of dual citizenship provision in Nepal introducing “Nepal and Dual citizenship: A contemporary view, Benefits Analysis Paper’ co-authored by him in collaboration with other community leaders Simon Dhungana and Dr. Shambu Dhungana for enhancement of Nepalese education.
       Similarly, William N. Hug extensively discussed the process of changing B1/B2 Visa status to F1 status, necessary steps in transforming colleges as well as credits, the challenges and opportunities of foreign students in the US institutions. Moreover, he urged Nepali students to do enough research about US institutions, their financial expectations and request to contact local US embassy’s educational center in Kathmandu to learn more about American educational system before coming to USA for further study.

      Another panelist, Dr. Bheem Kattel, discussed about the history, scope, constraints and opportunities of technical education in Nepal.  His paper emphasized on the need to raise workforce skill levels and accumulate more capital before specializing in manufacturing in developing countries like Nepal. He highly appreciated Korean government’s recent announcement US$5 million of grants to improve technical education in Nepal that might help to positively affect the product quality and product performance.
      Pradip Paudel, President, Nepal Student Union 

      The guest speaker from Nepal, Mr. Pradip Poudel, acknowledged an instrumental role that NSU has been playing in safeguarding nationality, democracy, student unity, and socialism in Nepal. “Free education system in school level education, affordable tuition fee in colleges and universities across the nation, globally competent main power are some basic strength in Nepali Education system”, he said. However, he expressed his deep concern on brain drain, poor students’ health care, political instability, traditional teaching methods that have been impeding student’s success and nation’s all sided development on the whole.  The 21^st century need of Nepali education, he said, must utilize the nation’s available resources such as hydro electricity, herbs, tourism and many more in their fullest potential. He strongly supported his logic of why NSU has been demanding to increase educational investment with educational tax, Nepal army budget cut, tax on production and consumption of health hazardous stuffs such as cigarettes, alcoholic beverage, costume tax, investment of accumulated donation in different religious institutions particularly in Hindu temples to collect necessary amount needed in revamping educational system and development of schools facilities across the nation that  meet the expectation of 21^st century education.

Additionally, Dr. Shayam Karki who is directly involved in Nepal’s healthcare education expressed his deep concern and sorry while icebreaking Nepal as a country of 30 million populations with little transportation and miserable health care facility. “Most of teaching institutions are concentrated in Kathmandu and in few large cities” he said. The professional and participants also expressed their sadness at the poor fact and performance seen in Nepal health education sector. A good start, mixed faculty, good training ground, large affiliated hospitals were presented as some of the strengths in health education sector.  By contrast, market driven than need driven, profit making institution, very expensive healthcare, quality concerns, lack in rigor of practical experience, didactic old curriculum, more focused on passing the exam and getting to overseas, credibility and trust, ethics, are accountability are major concern in Nepal Health care Education”, Mr Karki further added. Lastly, he highlighted the Telemedicine, ideal for investigations of adverse effects drug naïve population as some lights seen at the end of tunnel in Nepal’s health education.
At the end of the program, GECLSA’s president Mr Bhandari appreciated job well done by guest speakers and GECLSA Central Executive Board that includes Sangita Bhandari, Hem Paudel, Arjun Hamal, Narayan Shrestha, JB Salganik, Tirtha Pandey, and Muna Aryal.
